Springfield City Council — March 8, 2021

0:03 all right are now recording thank you aj i'm going to call this uh regular session of the springfield city council to order with roll call mayor van gorden here counselors mo here here and it looks like we have one item and it's mary bridget and nancy good evening counselors um nancy newton city manager we're excited to be able to administer the oath of office to our newest council member damian pitts and so i'm going to turn that over to mary bridget for administering the uf thank you

0:50 good evening uh mayor and council as um nancy stated we're here tonight to administer the oath to our newest counselor counselor damian pitts for award one um our charter requires that a counselor takes an oath before they start their work as a city councilor councillor pitts typically when we're in person i will go back and forth with you on the oath um but since we're in a remote format what we're going to do uh today is just ask you to read uh the language that's up on the screen in italics by inserting your name and then reading the rest of the oath so when you're ready if you would raise your right hand and then read the oath please

1:40 all right i damien pitts do solemnly affirm that i will support the constitution of the united states and of this state and that i will to the best of my ability faithfully perform the duties of city councilor of the city of springfield oregon during my continuance therein excellent thank you and congratulations what is it welcome aboard that was easy here we are well let me be um part of the group to congratulate you and welcome you and you're joining the city council and i'm you know we have a meeting at seven o'clock but we have a couple of minutes if anybody wants to offer any other thoughts before we let the group go but congratulations and welcome on board
