2:00 Director Cole has agreed to read the Land Acknowledgement, We acknowledge that our district is situated in the traditional homeland of the Kapu people, specifically the community that was known as Chien, the area that we now called Springfield, CAAP, Pia. People who have lived in this region since time immemorial were illegally dispossessed of their land and forcibly removed to what are now the Grand. Ron and Cel Selects reservations over several years, but most notably in treaties between 1851 and 1855, MC Caap Pia are now members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ron and the Confederated tribes of Sess Indians and members of the Kapula still live, work, study, and thrive in this area, and continue to make important contributions here in
2:46 Springfield across the land we now refer to as Oregon and around the globe. This information is shared out of a responsibility to prevent the erasure of native culture, heritage and people, and to ensure a quality Contemporary education for future generations. Thank you. The board will now recess into executive session OR F1 92.660 subtext two F, and we will return to this meeting at the completion of the executive session.
2:49:37 Thank you to everyone for your patience. We'll now read adjourn into our regular meeting. First up is the, um, action items action on information discussed in executive session and Director Cole. So I guess, um, I would entertain a motion. The first motion is to accept the findings of the investigation. I would second You needed a motion? I would, oh, Haha. Just kidding. I will make a motion, uh, to accept the findings of the investigation as presented related to The complaints. Related to
2:50:22 The complaints. I second. Okay. Okay. Is there any discussion on the acceptance of the, okay, hearing none, I Just, I should declare a possible, uh, conflict of interest As, as should I, so, I'm sorry, what, what was the question I was declaring in my vote? A possible conflict of interest. Okay. So having, um, so that, do, do we, uh, go from, uh, right to left and, uh, record the votes? So Director Langworthy, Oh, you're gonna wanna move your mic.
2:51:11 This is just for the findings. Just Whether or not you accept the findings. Uh, I or Got it. Okay. Sorry. Um, The discussions allowed first, Correct, but the, we had, I asked if there was any discussion. Yeah. So if you had discussion, If I, if I had discussions. So if I, I, I, I guess I, I'm flipped him in reverse. I flipped everything in reverse. Um, so this is the time for me to talk about what I, what I think o Okay. Specific to the findings of the investigation, Specific to the findings in the investigation. Right. This point of work, this are you, are you reopening discussion? No, I believe that you've already called
2:51:57 for discussion and now called for the votes. Is, is that afterwards? I mean, when you and I were, We would have, after we have a, a second, then we would have any discussion and then call for a vote. And I thought there wasn't any discussion, but we can reel for discussion. I, I guess not. Okay. I suppose not. I, I, I, I guess I can give my, my thought on the investigation afterwards is that what I understand. If the board would like to reopen discussion on the motion about whether to accept investigation findings, you may do so, or you can go ahead and you've already called for the vote. Move forward with calling for the vote. I think now's the time to have, um, discussion on the investigation.
2:52:42 So now would be the time to I would, so how Do we open it back up then? Oh, I, I, I thought I understood that after this is all said and done, that I would, we would have that time. But if, if I were to, I don't know, I i's what I thought was gonna happen. I think now is the time. Now is the time instead. Yeah. I see. I think when the meeting, when we're done, um, processing all of the actions, we'll be done. So Kim? Yes. So this is just about whether or not to accept the investigation findings. You're going to have additional motions related to the actions to take that speak. And there will be discussions offered at each of those motion times.
2:53:27 And so this is the option one or two except no, no. Accepting the investigative, the accepting The findings are saying findings. We don't accept the findings. Oof. Yeah. Yeah. It, that was a tough one. It's a tough one for me to say. I accept it has been a tough one reading this. Um, just say yes or no. Yeah. So we, how do we, if we're reopen for discussion, how does that happen? Can we just reopen for discussion? So how about we do this? Is there a motion to reopen discussion on the motion to accept the findings? Okay. And then if the board votes to reopen discussion, then you, you can go ahead and do so. Thank, thank you. You would make that motion to reopen if you want discuss.
2:54:16 I, i, I motion for this to be opened second For discuss for discussion on on the report. Report, yeah. Yeah. Okay. I make the motion to open this for discussion. I will second. And then, So now we call for a vote on whether or not to open for reopen for discussion. Correct. Director Langworthy? Yes. Yes. Yes. Director Kanza? Yes. Director Degra? No. Um, I will vote yes. Director LI will vote Yes. Thank you for your patience with that, everyone. Um, for me, looking at the,
2:55:04 and the conclusion of the investigation, it seemed to be heavily focused on confirming complaints rather than conducting a purely impartial fact finding mission. Um, I felt there was many biased, um, questions. It was very leading. Um, uh, the investigator presented testimony or statements from others before the board member who was being asked the question, um, before that person was given their full account. Um, and, um, I, once again, I really thought this would be more of an impartial fact finding mission. And, and again,
2:55:51 what I noticed was it was heavily focused on confirming the complaints rather than purely conducting a purely, um, partial fact finding mission. So I, I do have a hard time because in here we never went into the why, and I was really hoping that we could have some expansion on why we spent a lot of money. Um, and I, I was hoping to understand in depth why, why people were filing the complaint, which I, I understood. And then why the person who received the complaint, why they, why they did the things that they did,
2:56:36 and were able to elaborate. I also noticed that they interviewed a former school board member kind of order. We're not gonna discuss the complaint. Oh, yes. That's why we've had to discuss, sorry, an executive session. That's why we had agreed to vote for the finding. Okay. So sorry about that. Um, so anyway, I just, um, I just was hoping that this would be more of, um, a, an expansion on the why. Any other discussion. Okay. We'll go back to, uh, call for the, the vote on acceptance of the investigative report on the complaints. Uh, director Langworthy,
2:57:22 Can you pass it to Yes, Dr. Director Za? Yes. Director DeGraff? Yes. I will vote yes. Director light with the comments and consideration. I vote yes. Director Langworthy. Boy, my turn. Uh, yes. Okay. Motion passes unanimously. Okay. So now we are on to, um, the actions for, um, complaints number 1, 1 1 2 and two A and two B, is that right? And three, So complaints one, two, and three.
2:58:08 You can one, two, and three. Thank you. Okay. And I will entertain a motion, Um, that is my cue. Hold up point of clarification. Do I need to do them in order listed on here, or can I do the one that I brought up in executive session first? You can do that. The first Question that you brought up. Okay. Thank you. Um, I would like to make a motion that the board formally request the resignation of Director Jonathan Light. Um, I don't know if I, I'm allowed to,
2:58:53 I will wait for the discussion part, but I would, that is my motion. I would, I second, I would like to formally press that I second. Hmm. Is there any discussion? Um, I do have discussion. Um, the findings of the complaints concluded that board policy and ethical standards were violated. When a board member's conduct becomes harmful to district operations staff, students, or the public trust, resignation is an appropriate and proportional remedy. The community elects board members to serve honorably, responsibly, and lawfully. When a member's actions demonstrate that they cannot
2:59:40 or will not uphold these obligations, the board has a duty to act and protect the district. A resignation does not remove or replace the democratic process. It respects it. Resignation ensures the board can continue to work without disruption, while allowing the opportunity to select a representative, um, that will effectively serve the board for the remainder of that term. And failure to address these serious misconducts enables ongoing harm, diminishes the credibility of the board, and signals that board members are held to a lower standard than the staff we supervise. Requesting resignations shows that the board values ethics, accountability, and lawful governance above personal loyalty and politics. And I have one more thing.
3:00:25 Um, I'm not just speaking as a board member tonight or today. I don't know what time it is. The time change throws me off, and I apologize for that. But I'm speaking like, not just as a board member, but as a parent and a community member, and someone who deeply cares about all of Springfield public schools, students, families, and staff. Our students only get one education, one chance at stability, one chance at a safe and supportive school environment. And instead of dedicating every ounce of our focus to them, we've spent too much time and energy dealing with conduct and conflict that should never happen at the leadership level of a school district. I'm frustrated, and I am angry, and I am deeply disappointed that the adults that should be modeling responsibility, integrity,
3:01:10 and respect have instead created disruption and harm to our students. You deserve better. You deserve a board that puts you first above egos, above personal agendas and above political games, we expect our young people to act with respect and honesty. And they have every right to expect that from us too, to our staff. I'm sorry. You should not have to worry about being undermined, disrespected, or pulled into the conflicts that we're having here. You show up for your, for the students every single day, even when our leadership has made you work harder, and you deserve to feel safe and supported and our families. You have every right to demand professionalism and stability. You trust us with your children every single day.
3:01:57 And that trust has been damaged and repairing. It requires honesty, not silence. I can't share the confidential details of the ongoing process, and I'm not going to, but I can say this clearly. Accountability is not optional. Our policies are laws and our ethical obligations matter. And when those standards are ignored, there must be consequences. Ignoring misconduct is not protecting students. It's not. But accountability is our students are watching us, and our community is watching us. And I refuse to be part of a culture where harmful behavior is tolerated just because it feels comfortable, uncomfortable to address it. And because of these realities, I think the appropriate next step is formal accountability. That that includes censure removal for leadership roles,
3:02:43 and if necessary, which I think it is asking those responsible to step down so this district can move forward. This is not about politics. This is not personal. It's about the safety, integrity, and stability of our students, and our students and our staff deserve that. We can't build trust without consequences, and we can't serve students if we allow anyone in leadership to act without regard for their own actions or their own responsibilities. Our district, our staff, and our children deserve better, and they deserve it right now. So, again, I make a motion that the board request director light to move down to res, resign from his position. Any other discussion? I do. Um,
3:03:29 my service on this board has always been centered on students. Um, every policy decision I vote on is guided by, um, a responsibility I feel, um, to create safe and positing learning environments for them and for, and, um, how deeply I care about our district. Ethical work is foundational to me personally. Um, I would rather focus on improving student outcomes and addressing adult misconduct. However, when public officials violate policy and erode, uh, community trust by distorting the facts, accountability, um, I think is, I think is necessary. And I, um, am going to vote for the strongest, um, measures. Um, an independent investigation recently substantiated or partially substantiated multiple,
3:04:14 multiple complaints involving, um, board member Jonathan Light. The findings show clear violations of board policy, oath of office and operating agreements. Um, these aren't minor disagreements or political differ political differences because, um, they act, they show a breakdown, integrity and respect for the whole process. Um, what makes this particularly troubling to me is that it follows a corrective action. The board and I was a part of that took place in, um, December, 2023. At that time, Jonathan Light publicly promised to follow our board's operating agreement, oath of office and governing policies. But his conduct since then has been repeatedly a pattern of violating those standards. Um, a public official who, who selectively follows rules and undermines point of Order, We're wandering from the motion,
3:05:02 Excuse me, discussion by discussion on the mo on the motion. A public official who selectively follows rules and undermines the process and accountability cannot effectively serve the community. Jonathan's repeated patterns are incompatible with the trust place in any elected leader. When one board member behaves this way, it affects our entire district. It damages the credibility of the board, distracts from remission, not to mention the potential legal risk he has exposed us to. It forces time and taxpayer money to be, be spent addressing misconduct rather than improving student outcomes. So far, $35,000 has been spent on these four complaints. The public should care deeply about this because transparency and follow following policies and law are not optional for elected officials. Um, they're, they're what protects students and staff, staff
3:05:48 and, and families from decisions made in secrecy or based on personal interests. Every board member is sworn to uphold these principles. So when one fails to do so, it weakens the governance that really supports our whole district. I'm calling for, uh, Jonathan to step down for his leadership role immediately. Um, I am also calling for him to resign from the board. It's not personal or political. We need to restore public trust and model accountability. The public deserves leaders who keep their word and uphold ethical standards that, that are part of public service, aren't our students. Watch what we do. If we tolerate dishonesty or disregard for the rules, we teach them that it only matters when someone wants to pick and choose. So I think it's time to put our students first by taking action, the resource faith in our board.
3:06:35 Any, uh, I would just say that I believe that, um, director light's service on the board is, um, the public has an opportunity to issue a recall. We, as a board, ultimately, I think our highest level is whether or not to censure director light. And so I think that's, we should stay within our bounds, but certainly feel free to call for the resignation. But that's, I'm asking, I'm asking him for, for him to voluntarily resign and not force the public to go through the process of recalling him. Okay. Any further discussion? Dror? Langworthy, do you have any comments before I,
3:07:20 You saw me working through some things. I, Well, I, I would just like to, there've been some very distinct accusations made. And I want to reiterate that my goal for being on the board, and has always been for the 20 years that I've been on the board, is to provide Springfield students with an outstanding education. That means that we need to have as a, a board timely information, adequate information, one of Order that's not related to this motion of me asking you to resign voluntarily. Well, you gave quite a bit of background to your reason, so I would ask permission from the board to continue.
3:08:07 Go on. Yes. So there's a lot that goes into this, and I have input from a large, um, a number of people at all levels, uh, that say that we can do better. So if I'm not providing in provided information, then, you know, I feel that I, I need to do my homework, which, uh, which I've done. So I will leave it there. If your homework involves, uh, violating policies, then that's wrong. This is,
3:08:54 you know, I, I have seen Jonathan Light, um, really pay attention to the public in a way. I've, I've never seen someone interact with public before. He wasn't even in the voter pamphlet, and he's still one that's pretty remarkable. He was the incumbent. Yeah. So that's pretty common for the incumbent. Oh, I mean, I'm just stating facts like I've, I've gone through C Can we let Yeah. Director Langworthy finish her comments. I, I don't think it was that. Um, anyway, I do appreciate your service and everything I have witnessed from you, um,
3:09:40 in board meetings when I'd come in here before I was elected. I, I, I saw you working hard and I have seen you working hard for, for the students. And that's all I Any further discussion, I will, uh, call for the vote, then on the motion to request director light to resign. Director Langworthy? No. Director Za? Yes. Director of the graph? Yes. Uh, I will vote no. Director light clearing a possible conflict? No. Okay.
3:10:25 Um, motion fails for lack of a majority. Do I have another motion? I would like to make a motion that the board formally censure Director light to acknowledge that his conduct has fallen below the standards required of school board members. We'll wait for, I'll second. Uh, do we have any discussion? Do you wanna go First? Yeah. Mine short. Um, I want to dis distance myself and send a clear message that, um, this kind of behavior is wrong and, um, that, uh, this kind of behavior also opens us up to, um, some liability and we've exposed us to risk. So that's
3:11:10 So censorship versus censoring someone. Those words are difficult for my mouth to, to do. Um, but we're not like banning John. I'm not requesting that Jonathan be banned from sharing his opinion and in involving himself in board matters. What I am requesting is that we use our board's formal accountability mechanism. When someone, when a board member violates policy, disrupts district operation, or creates a hostile or unprofessional environment, censure publicly acknowledges that the conduct is unacceptable and will not be ignored. The stat like mis, this misconduct was public. This was made public,
3:11:56 and accountability must be made public. The staff in the community cannot. The trust of the staff in the community cannot be rebuilt. Through private conversations alone, censorship draws a clear line that further re violations will result in stronger corrective actions. And the board must model the professional conduct and policy compliance that we expect throughout the entire district. Again, we have students and staff members watching what we're doing. And without getting into the details of the complaint, some of it has already been made public. This is what we should be doing. Like this is our, a lawful method for us to rebuke their actions while
3:12:41 allowing them to remain in office. It reasserts that board policy law and ethical expectations are mandatory. They're not optional, and it creates an, an official public record that the misconduct has been acknowledged and that this is our response. He needs to be centered. Any further discussion? I will say that, um, I too am concerned about divulging, um, information, confidential information, so that is also a concern of mine. Um, and I think, yeah, it needs to be addressed.
3:13:28 Any further discussion? Paul? For the vote? Start with, uh, director coa. Yes. Director Degra? Yes. I will vote yes. Director Light stating possible conflict. No. Director Langworthy. I'm not sure if I understand this since you're just fully, um, but this, so this would just do a separation. Mm-hmm. This is a formal censure by the Board of Director Light, and that is just separating, essentially me from his conduct.
3:14:14 From his conduct. Okay. Um, uh, yes. Motion passes. Um, another motion? Yes. I'd like to make another motion. I, uh, would like to make a motion that Director light be removed from the position of chair. I second. Okay. Uh, discussion. I'm giving other people a chance. Um, other than, uh, these findings, there's been, um, a lot of mishandling of public complaints, abuse of authority from policies BCBB,
3:15:00 B-A-B-D-D-B-B-D-D-C from, um, um, Jonathan's, um, role as Chair. Chair. And, um, I don't think, um, he should remain in leadership position, um, as the, the rest of the findings have, have shown his failures Any further. Yeah. I'm just trying to gather my thoughts. I apologize. Um, school boards have the authority to elect two officers, chair and vice chair, and those individuals are supposed to model professionalism, respect for procedure,
3:15:46 and be responsible leaders. Director. Light has demonstrated a pattern of behavior inconsistent with the responsibilities of the role. Um, the chair positions require the highest standard of conduct. Anyone that's serving as chair must demonstrate impartiality, professionalism, respect for policy, and responsible leadership. Director light's, behavior shown he can't meet those expectations. His conduct has caused disruption, uh, disruption interfered with district operations and undermined staff and community trust. And that's not even going into all of the other things that have happened, um, while I've been on the board that have impacted me personally.
3:16:31 Um, leadership's not a right. It's a responsibility. Like I, I don't know how many times I have to say that. When behavior shows a lack of judgment or disrespect for board rules and processes, the leadership authority must be removed. And we are allowed to do that if we like, this is what we have to do to protect board function and district stability. Preventing him from serving as chair eliminates the risk of leadership power being misused or weaponized. And yeah, I, I strongly encourage us to do, to do this. Is there any other discussion?
3:17:18 Hearing none. We'll call for the vote. Director Degra? Yes. Um, I will vote yes. Director light with possible, uh, conflict? No. Director Langworthy? Yes. Director Za? Yes. Motion passes. A We have another motion. I would like to make a motion that director light reaffirm, um, or I would like to make, uh, trying to word this is difficult. So I, I'm just, I guess a quick point
3:18:07 of order if now, if, uh, director light is no longer chair, do we need to elect another chair? No, You take over as vice chair. Just Doing as vice chair? Yeah. Okay. So would we then need to elect a vice If you were removed? Not now. Not now. Not now. Not currently. Okay. I'm not an attorney. I'm sorry. I, I believe the board can wait until the next meeting to hold elections related to the board leadership positions, because the Medicare can step in to the chair's role. Okay. Policy. All right. I'm sorry. Where were we? Um, the third one. So re you Reaffirm, Can you take the next motion? I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out the, okay.
3:18:53 So I would like to make a motion that the board formally required director light to reaffirm his commitment to the board member oath of office board policy and applicable state and federal laws. I'll second any discussion. You know, I have discussion. So, um, as I stated before, his recent actions show a disregard for legal and procedural obligations. This formal reaffirmation puts him on clear notice and establishes expectations moving forward. Um, a board member's oath is not ceremonial. It's a binding commitment to act lawfully and ethically govern this organization.
3:19:42 And the reaffirmation is a corrective step. It formally reminds him of the legal and ethical expectations he has agreed to uphold, including compliance with board procedures, non interference with staff, and a respectful professional conduct. It's a clear, documented warning. You know, we're establishing this factual record that he was informed of his obligations, and that violations continue. We have evidence for progressive discipline. This is also important for the public to have this information. Um, when a board member repeatedly violates boundaries, chains of command, legal requirements, staff safety and district operations are all at risk because of that. And reaffirmation makes the expectations explicit and enforceable. Um,
3:20:30 As I said earlier, it was troubling to me. I don't think that, um, from my perspective, seeing, um, the same kind of behavior, um, be a pattern, I don't think reaffirming, uh, that he's expected to uphold these, these policies and, uh, ethical standards will actually matter much. But there we are. I believe that is why I am frustrated with, uh, the findings. 'cause there was no elaboration on the why. Um, I think it takes two to tango in this. Obviously it takes two to tango and, um, I, I'll reframe from saying much more, but I am, I have walked into a board that is, um,
3:21:20 I, I, I, I see frustrations. Just pause there, Jonathan. Anything? Nothing. Okay. Any comments? Little call for a vote. Let's see. Um, I'll go first. Aye. Director light stating The, uh, for said, um, conflict. Possible conflict. No. Director Langworthy Aye. Director Za? Yes. Director Degra? Yes. Motion passes. Okay. And jumping the gun, I would like to make another motion. Um, I would like to further recommend that the board,
3:22:07 um, require director light to complete governance training focused on ethics, staff relations and board responsibilities. Second, Any discussion? His Conduct shows either a lack of understanding or a straight up refusal to follow the established rules. Um, training's a corrective member, a corrective measure that benefits both the board and the district. Um, and I, I am not opposed to going through said, training myself either. Um, we govern policy. That's our, one of our main roles, and we oversee the superintendent.
3:22:52 Um, training is corrective professional and preventative. It provides the knowledge and the structure needed to prevent repeated violations of policy, meet legal expectations, and restore trust. And this is a standard and widely accepted response. When an elected official violates procedures, ethical norms, or statutory requirements, it's not punitive. It's professional remediation, and it protects the district. Um, training reduces the risk that we will face, and the risk ultimately falls on staff, students, and taxpayers. If we don't, if board members aren't doing the things that they're supposed to be doing and don't understand what they're supposed to be doing,
3:23:39 those decisions and choices we make literally impact lives every single day. Like this impacts our ability. We, the amount of time that we've spent on this, like we could have been talking about kids and staff, and we haven't, we've been talking about board conduct and that's ridiculous. Like, I don't think any of us signed up on the board to talk about how other board members were gonna behave. We thought we were all responsible adults and we were gonna behave accordingly. And we have not. So, training is the absolute least thing we should be doing. I will say the district and the board, they are like a marriage.
3:24:24 And I, I, I'm saddened that only one, one person in the marriage is getting the brunt of everything. Um, it's, it, it, again, I really wish we wouldn't had the big why answered. I, I really do. Um, again, for, um, from my perspective, um, requiring somebody who's been a board member for as many years as, uh, Jonathan Light has been, I don't have much hope of, um, any comprehensive training to actually impact anything. Um, I think a measure of humility is required to take things on board that you might disagree with.
3:25:10 Um, but there you go. Jonathan, anything? No comment. No comment. We'll call for the vote. Director light with possible conflict. No. Director Langworthy Aye. Director Hanza? Yes. Director Degra? Yes. And I'll vote yes. And one final motion from me. I would like the board. Um, I would make a motion for the board to, I don't know how to word this. Um, remind. Oh, we're just saying remind. Yeah.
3:25:58 Director light of their obligations under board policy. GBMA, uh, whistleblower and related legal protection protections for district staff. Second, Any discussion? I Think all my stuff regarding training applies to this too. Okay. Nicole, do you have No, I'll be a broken and record. Okay. Amber, any discussion? Uh, call for the vote. Director langworthy. Any pass? Yeah. Director Hanza. Aye. Director Degra? Yes. Uh, I will vote yes. Director Light. I'll vote Yes.
3:26:52 Director Langworthy? Yeah. Yes. Okay. Passes unanimously. Okay. So now for the, uh, to deal with the other complaint. Now, uh, who do we have now that we don't have a board chair? So first you need to have a motion to delegate the authority to one of the board members to provide a response back based upon the board's actions. Okay. Complain. So, yeah, we'll need, I Would, uh, do, I Actually, I will, I will move to delegate, um, di um, director Heather Kanza to, um, give a letter summary back to the complainants. Correct. And facilitate the de the rest of the, yeah,
3:27:39 all I, So the, the motion would be I move that the board delegate the authority to the director Thank You to, to draft a response to the complaint based upon the board's discussion. Okay. I, I'll second that. I I can second that. Okay. I was like, yeah, that's, oh, to draft the, the response. Okay. We're on the, yeah. Okay. So, um, I was moving ahead, so, okay. Um, any discussion on whether or not Director, Should I restate that? Yes, please restate the question. Okay. I move, uh, for Director Kanza to draft a response to the complainant's.
3:28:25 Oops. I will second, Based on our discussion here tonight. There you go. And I'll second any discussion. Call for the vote. Director Kanza? Yes. Director Degra? Yes. Uh, I'll vote yes. Director Light? No. Director langworthy? Yes. Motion passes. Four to one. Okay, so now we're on to the complaint number four. So now do we need to have a motion for somebody else to facilitate that discussion? Okay. So I entertain a motion to, for somebody to handle the,
3:29:10 I would make a motion for a director to graft to facilitate the conversa the proceedings related to complaint number four. I would make a motion and not hearing a second. Oh, Second. Okay. Was there a second? Nicole? Seconded. Okay. Any discussion? Call for the vote. Director Degra? Yes. Uh, I will vote no. Director light? No. Director Langworthy? No. Director za? Yes. Okay. So the motion fails two to three.
3:29:58 So, um, I would move the director za facilitate the remainder of the, the dealing with complaint number four. I'll second. Okay. Um, so I'm trying to remember, so where we were at, I'll rotating through. I think I will start, uh, I will vote yes. Director L Yes. Director. Langworthy. All it is, is whether or not I am gonna conduct the next part of this? Yes. Okay. Director Hansa? Yes. Yes. Director Degra? Yes. Okay. Motion passes. See Ashley. Okay. I really hoping to not keep talking. It's okay though. Okay.
3:30:45 Um, so help me out please. We're Doing the same motion. Yeah, but I'm, except for that I'm not, I'm not the one making for the motion. I'm calling for a motion. Correct. Right. Okay. Okay. Thank you. I did all of the motions last time, so I'm just making sure I'm doing this correctly. Um, so, uh, are there any motions that, um, the board would like to take regarding complaint number four? Um, whether or not we are accepting or not accepting the findings? No, we Accepted the findings already for Oh, we sure did, huh? Just kidding. Any other motions? Yes. Uh, related to complaint number four, Um, move to formally sent, um, board member, um, Ken Cole for his actions.
3:31:31 Do I hear a second, uh, hearing no second motion fails. Are there any other motions we would like to, I move to, um, remove, uh, Ken Cole from leadership role. Do I hear any seconds for that? Gimme just a moment. No problem. I second. Any discussion,
3:32:24 huh? Yeah, this is leadership second. Yep. Um, I just am favor of strong action. Um, strong corrective action. I don't feel that it's, um, doing more training and, uh, reminding board members of both is, is strong enough and I think we need to have a, um, good leadership team that can work with our district. Any, any further comments? I believe I all of the reasoning that I stated for Director light regarding, um, why I believed he should be re removed, removed from his leadership role. Um, actually not all of it.
3:33:10 I don't think Director Cole, knowingly violated policies. Yeah. Um, any other discussion? Hearing none. We'll move for the vote. Director? Yes. Director Cole? Uh, conflict of interest? So director light? No. Director worthy? Let me think. Yes. And I will also vote yes. Motion passes. Is it three to one
3:33:56 and one abstains? Mm-hmm. As an abstention. Okay. That good? Correct. To make sure everyone heard that. Three yeses. One, no one abstention. Um, are there any further, um, motions that anyone would like to present? I Move that, um, Mr. Cole's Weir that Mr. Cole's expected to fully uphold the board member oath of office including board policies. Do I hear a second? I'll second that. Uh, any discussion?
3:34:48 I think everything I said before applies. I think this is just a good policy reminder of what our rules are most, you know, reminder of what our oath of office says. Um, any further discussion? Just, I think it's a good, good to reaffirm that, um, board members have integrity and, um, work through the process and stay in their lane. Any further comments? We'll move to the vote. Director Langworthy. Okay. Uh, director Degra? Yes. Director Cole Abstain. Director light? No. And I will vote yes. And I already forgot what Director Langworthy said.
3:35:33 I said yes. Okay. So thank you. So three yeses. One, no one abstention. Uh, any further motions or additional motions? I move to require Mr. Cole a complete comprehensive training for school board members. Do I hear a second? I will second. Uh, any discussion? No. For me, I think training in general is a good thing and I think, again, I'm not opposed to going through it with my fellow board members. I think it's important that we all be on the same page. Mm-hmm. Any further discussion? I too will, we'll do that as well.
3:36:18 Anything further? All right. Hearing no further, we will go to the vote. Director Degra? Yes. Director de director Cole Abstain. Director Light? No. Director Langworthy for training? Yeah. Um, want Me give you a minute? Yes. Yes. Okay. Thank you. And I'll also vote Yes. Uh, so again, that passes three yeses. One, no one abstention. Any further motions? I believe the last motion is to, um, well I move to, um, delegate authority to director Lanza to, um, form the, uh, response based on our action tonight.
3:37:04 Is there a second for that? Great. Can you repeat that, Nicole? We're just delegating. I moved to delegate authority for, uh, director SZA to, uh, formulate the response letter back to the complainant based on our action tonight. Do you want A second? Second. Any discussion? Um, we'll move for the vote. So the motion on the table is that, uh, Nicole made the motion that the board delegate the authority to me, director Kanza, to draft a response to the complaint based upon the board's decisions here tonight.
3:37:50 Amber. Second. Um, Dr. Director Langworthy. I almost called you Doctor. Doctor, no discussion. So we'll go for the vote. Director Light? Yes. Director Cole? Yes. Director Worthy? Yes. Director Degra? Yes. And I'll also vote Yes, it is unanimous. That motion passes. And I would like to give up my, no, I'm still doing things. Okay. So the Forward has an additional item of business now that you do not have anyone in a leadership position. So board policy BCB indicates that in the absence of somebody serving as a chair or vice chair, you must a replacement must be elected immediately.
3:38:35 So you are now in a position of having to vote on chair and vice chair tonight? Yep. Cool. Oh, I thought we were holding that off. Okay. But Yes, it was contingent on whether or not you had a vice chair to fill in the position of board chair until the next meeting. And because you do not have that, you need to make that decision tonight. Got It. Unless You, I mean, another option for the board is if you wanted to table this, the implementation, this board policy, and do board elections at the next meeting. The only issue with that is that you don't have a board chair to assist with agenda planning and the, like going into the next board meeting. Let's, as we go for tonight, I think we should pick somebody tonight. All right. So, uh, is there a motion or a nom?
3:39:23 Do we nominate, nom? Is there a nomination that anyone would like to make at this time? I, no, Go ahead. I nominate, uh, director Za. For which position? Uh, board chair. Thank you. Is there a second? Second. Second. Thank you. Director Langworthy and Director DeGraff. But I think Director Langworthy beat you to it. Uh, any discussion? We'll go for the vote. Director Langworthy Aye. Director? Yes. Director Cole? Yes. Director Light. Yes. I will also vote Yes. Um, so that passes. Um, I am now board chair.
3:40:10 Um, is there a nomination for Vice chair at this time? I Nominate myself. I nominate myself. How does, what do we do? So You need a Take one motion at a time? Yes. There you go. Okay. Um, so we'll go with, um, I don't know which one I heard first. I Think, I think I heard Director Degra. Okay. Go First. Uh, so we'll go with direct Director Degra. Um, do I hear a second for Director Degra Second, or do we just do an up down vote? You do up, down vote. There's no second on. Thank you. Okay. Up, down vote. Um, director Langworthy? No. Director de raf? Yes. Director Cole? No. Director Light? No.
3:40:58 I would vote yes. The motion, uh, the vote doesn't pass and we will go to the second one. Uh, we move Director Langworthy as vice chair. Okay. Um, do we, no discussion, guest discussion. It's Just a nomination. So you can go, go ahead to the And the voting again. Okay. Doing great. Director Langworthy, uh, do you vote yes. Yourself? Yes. Okay. Director Light. Yes. Director Cole? Yes. Director Degra? No. I would vote yes. Um, so, uh, director Langworthy is vice chair. What else are we supposed to do now?
3:41:44 I believe that concludes for business tonight. Okay. Hold on. Let's get back to this. Okay. So our next meeting is on November 10th. It's a business meeting that begins at 7:00 PM and, um, I guess we adjourn at some time. 4:42 PM I have no gavel.
